Program Overview
About this program
Doctoral study in Digital Evangelism is for those directing communications and researching digital formation. Platforms are designed to capture attention, and a ministry using them inherits that design whether or not it agrees with it. This ICAS-accredited Kingdom of Life University program covers a theology of communication, how digital environments form people, communications strategy with actual measures, writing and editing, audio and video storytelling, and the techniques that work but should not be used.
Competency-Based Ministry Assessment
Recognition of demonstrated learning in theology and ministry
Experienced ministry practitioners demonstrate competencies developed through years of service, theological study, and continuing learning. The assessment connects that learning with the published outcomes of the Doctor of Philosophy in Digital Evangelism through biblical understanding, theological reflection, research, and ministry judgment.

Major Subject Areas
The fourteen subjects you study, and the ones the ministry assessment draws on
Foundational and Major-Core Subjects
Four foundations every pathway shares, then four that belong to this field.
Doctoral Seminar: Biblical Interpretation
Presenting Scripture in formats that fragment it, and the interpretive cost of a verse that arrives with no context around it.
Doctoral Seminar: Old Testament Theology
The Old Testament's long-form narrative, which resists every habit a short-form platform trains, and what that resistance is worth.
Doctoral Seminar: New Testament Theology
The New Testament's letters as media — written, carried, read aloud to an assembly — and what changes when the reader is alone.
Doctoral Seminar: Christian Doctrine
Doctrine communicated in a medium that rewards certainty and outrage, and the distortions that produces in what gets said.
Doctoral Seminar: Theology of Communication
Communication as a theological category, covering word, incarnation, and mediation, and what they imply about speaking the gospel through any medium.
Doctoral Seminar: Digital Culture and Formation
How digital environments form people, covering attention, comparison, identity performance, and the effects that platform design produces by intention.
Doctoral Seminar: Church Communications Strategy
Communications strategy for a congregation, covering audience, message discipline, channel choice, calendar, and the measurement of whether any of it works.
Doctoral Seminar: Writing and Editing for Ministry
Writing and editing for ministry, covering structure, plain language, editing to length, and the house style that makes an organisation legible.
Specialization Subjects
Six more that take the field into the places it actually gets used.
Doctoral Seminar: Audio and Video Storytelling
Telling stories in audio and video, covering interview technique, structure, editing, consent, and the ethics of using people's accounts.
Doctoral Seminar: Digital Community and Pastoral Care
Pastoral care and community online, covering what genuinely transfers to a screen, what does not, and the limits of digital accompaniment.
Doctoral Seminar: Digital Evangelism
Evangelism in digital settings, covering search behaviour, content that answers real questions, conversation at scale, and the handover to a person.
Doctoral Seminar: Ethics, Privacy, and Attention
Ethics of attention, covering privacy, data, manipulation, engagement metrics, and the refusal of techniques that work but should not be used.
Doctoral Seminar: Spiritual Formation and Christian Vocation
The spiritual formation of someone whose work is attention, and the discipline of a life not lived on the platform.
Doctoral Seminar: Integrative Theology and Ministry
A communications project with audience, message, channels and measures, produced and evaluated against them.
