Program Overview
About this program
The M.A. in Kingdom Leadership works on strategy, teams, governance and leading change. Ministry leadership borrows heavily from management literature without examining what that literature assumes about people. This ICAS-accredited Kingdom of Life University program covers the biblical material, servant leadership examined rather than asserted, organisational theology, strategy, teams, governance, change, and the safeguards around power that must exist before the crisis rather than after it.
Competency-Based Ministry Assessment
Recognition of demonstrated learning in theology and ministry
Experienced ministry practitioners demonstrate competencies developed through years of service, theological study, and continuing learning. The assessment connects that learning with the published outcomes of the Master of Arts in Kingdom Leadership through biblical understanding, theological reflection, research, and ministry judgment.

Major Subject Areas
The fourteen subjects you study, and the ones the ministry assessment draws on
Foundational and Major-Core Subjects
Four foundations every pathway shares, then four that belong to this field.
Advanced Biblical Interpretation
Reading the leadership narratives without turning them into management parables, which is the commonest abuse of Scripture in this field.
Advanced Old Testament Theology
The Old Testament's leaders — judges, kings, prophets — presented with their failures intact, and what the narrator declines to excuse.
Advanced New Testament Theology
The New Testament on authority, service and church order, including the passages that make ambition uncomfortable.
Advanced Christian Doctrine
The doctrine of power: its origin, its corruption, and the accountability that a serious doctrine of sin requires of institutions.
Advanced Biblical Foundations of Leadership
Leadership in the biblical material, covering the range of figures and offices and the difficulty of reading them as management models.
Advanced Servant Leadership
Servant leadership examined rather than asserted, covering its sources, the evidence for it, and the ways the language has been used to avoid accountability.
Advanced Organizational Theology
Organisational theology, covering what an institution is theologically and why structure is a moral rather than merely practical matter.
Advanced Strategic Ministry Leadership
Strategy in ministry settings, covering purpose, priorities, resourcing, and the discipline of deciding what not to do.
Specialization Subjects
Six more that take the field into the places it actually gets used.
Advanced Team Formation
Building teams, covering recruitment, role clarity, trust, conflict, and the conditions under which teams actually outperform individuals.
Advanced Governance and Stewardship
Governance and stewardship, covering boards, accountability structures, conflict of interest, and the protection that good governance provides.
Advanced Leading Change
Leading change, covering sequencing, resistance, coalition, communication, and the pace at which a community can actually absorb change.
Advanced Leadership Ethics
Leadership ethics, covering power, its abuse, transparency, and the safeguards that have to exist before they are needed.
Advanced Spiritual Formation and Christian Vocation
The leader's character, formed or deformed by the work, and the practices that make the difference.
Advanced Integrative Theology and Ministry
A leadership project with a strategic or structural intervention, implemented and evaluated for durable change.
